Alumni Association of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, Chandigarh

The Alumni Association of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, Chandigarh organized the Annual Alumni Meet here today. The event started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp as a tribute to Goddess Saraswati by  Dr. Abha Sudarshan (Principal) and the Guest of Honour. Mr. Baninder Bunny (Punjabi Actor).  Principal of the college, Dr. Abha Sudarshan welcomed the guests and expressed her happiness that the alumni had spared their valuable time from their day to day busy schedules. She added that alumni are the reflection of an institution’s past, representation of its present and link to its future. Therefore she looked forward to many more events in future that would strengthen this bond. Dr. Baljit Singh, Vice Principal said that this event gave an opportunity to the former students to reunite and share their experiences with others. Dr. Pooja Garg, Convener, Alumni Association remarked that the enthusiastic participation, engaging conversations, and valuable insights shared during the meet made it successful.

On this occasion, the well placed alumni of the college Dr. Prabhdeep Singh (Ph.D in Music), Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Director, Tagore Theater, Chandigarh and Captain Rishab Sharma were honoured for their accomplishments in their respective fields.  A number of former students of the college attended the event. They walked down the memory lane by sharing their experiences with the audience as to how the college had helped them in shaping their personality. They also offered to contribute in the growth & development of the college. The purpose of the meet was to facilitate the students to reconnect with their Alma Mater. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Maninder Pal Singh, President, Alumni Association of the college. Eminent among those present were Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dean, Dr. Mukesh Chauhan, Dr. G.C.Sethi, Dr. Manisha Gaur, Dr. Sugandha, Dr. Renu, Dr. Shefali, Dr. Pooja Sareen.

The purpose of the meet was to facilitate the students to reconnect with their Alma Mater. A number of former students of the college attended the event. They walked down the memory lane and shared their experiences. Well placed alumni of the college Dr. Gurjeet Khosa (Ph.D in Punjabi), Dr. Sachin Kashyap(Ph.D in Physical Education) and Dr. Amit Diwedi(Ph.D in Psychology) were honoured for their accomplishments in their fields. Dr. Baljit Singh, Vice Principal and an old student of the college, was instrumental in bringing the alumni together. The meet was organized by Dr. Pooja Garg, Convener, Alumni Association

The Alumni association of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, and Chandigarh organized an alumni meet on 12 March, 2022. The purpose of the meet was to facilitate the students to reconnect with their Alma Mater. Principal of the college, Dr. Abha Sudarshan welcomed the alumni and expressed her gratitude on sparing their valuable time from their day to day working schedules. She added that the alumni are the ambassadors of an institution. The special feature of the meet was that it was organized in an offline mode after a gap of two years. A number of students joined not only from India but also from abroad who are today making the college proud with their achievements. This event gave an opportunity to the passed out students to reunite and share their experiences with others.  Well placed alumni of the college Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Professor, Chandigarh University. Dr. Amandeep Singh, Associate Professor, Delhi University, Mr. Mani Ram, Principal Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Ropar, Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Assistant Professor, PGGCG Sec- 42, Chandigarh, Ms. Daljeet, Professor, Business Management Canada, Ms. Harvandana, M.com, MBA, Ex-Banker, Vishal, NCC Instructor, NCC Headquarter Sector- 31, Chandigarh, Rahul Kumar, NCC Cadet Punjab Police also addressed the audience and expressed their willingness to contribute towards the welfare of the institution. Around 200 students participated in this meet. In the end, Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Baljit Singh, Convener Alumni Association.

Alumni Association of the college organized an alumni meet on 20.04.2019 in the Multimedia Hall of the college facilitating the students to reconnect with their Alma Mater and relive the carefree days of their college lives.

Chief Guest Principal Prof. Rosy Walia Joshi welcomed the alumni’s and expressed her gratitude for sparing their valuable time from their day to day working schedules. As the strength of the institution depends upon the alumni’s achievements, the members were motivated to come forward with suggestions for further upliftment of the college.

Guest of Honour, Dr. Pahlad Aggarwal, Ex Deputy Director, Higher Education explained them his life journey and said that nostalgia surrounds us as we walk the hallowed boulevards of our youth.

Dignitaries and guests like Ex Principal Dr. B. P. Yadav, Dr. Kirti Bakshi, Ms. Harinder Kaur and Neelam Rekhi were also present. Dr. B. P. Yadav urged the students to form a joint alumni of Government Colleges of Chandigarh.

President and Founder of the Association C.A Mastaan Singh and well placed alumni’s of the college Dr. Rajesh Jha, Mr. Luv Kumar, Mr. Ajay, Mr. Ravinder Singh, Mr. Gurpreet Mann and Ms. Sakshi Wadhwan also addressed the audience and expressed their willingness to contribute towards the welfare of the institution.

Alumni meet was organized on 14.04.2018.The Chief Guest was Principal of the college Prof.J.K.Sehgal ,he welcomed the alumnus and said that they are the Gem of the college and the collge feels proud of their achievements in the different sectors and in real sense they are the ambassador of the college.

Around 100 students and staff participated in the meet. The students have presented the cultural items and shared their views with the audience. During the meet 3 Alumnus Parwesh Kumar, Rajvir Singh and Sukhdev Singh who were awarded State Youth Award by the Punjab Government were felicitated during the event. Besides this Maninder Pal Singh the receiver of Presidential Award was also felicitated.     

The college has an Alumni Association, which meets periodically and plays a proactive role in the development of the institution through involvement in community outreach activities. The Alumni Meet of the session was held in the college on March 04, 2017. To strengthen ties among all members of the association and the college staff, numerous events and activities were organized. More than 70 alumni participated in the meet.

Three days theatre festival was organized by alumni association in college campus from 6-8 January 2016 and three One Act Play targeting burning social issues were performed in the college auditorium.

Alumni’s of college also participated in the national youth festival held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh from 2-6 January 2016 organized by government of India.
